Gerry Rodgers, Visiting Professor, IHD and Project Coordinator

Gerry Rodgers is Visiting Professor at the Institute for Human Development, New Delhi, and at Jawaharlal Nehru University. He has an M.A. from the University of Cambridge and a Doctorate from the University of Sussex. Formerly Director of the ILO's International Institute for Labour Studies in Geneva, he occupied a variety of research and management positions during his career with ILO. His work has mainly been concerned with labour markets, employment and poverty in Asia and Latin America. His most recent books, all coauthored, are concerned with employment and social protection in emerging economies, inclusive growth in rural Bihar, and the history of the ILO.

Nandita Gupta is a Senior Research Associate with the Institute for Human Development, New Delhi. She has a M.A. Development Studies from IDS Sussex. Nandita works on issues of urbanisation, migration, poverty and labour markets. At IHD she has been the principal researcher of the study on The Nature of Poverty in Small and Medium Towns, constituted by the Steering Committee for the Identification of Urban Poor in India. The study was commissioned by Planning Commission and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation. She is an Associate Editor of the Delhi Human Development Report 2013 published by Academic Foundation and IHD and has co-authored two of its chapters. Presently, she is conducting research on urbanisation and rural-urban linkages in Bihar. Before joining IHD, she has worked on livelihoods, access to basic services and sanitation issues in Delhi.
 Vidhya Soundararajan, Senior Research Associate, IHD (vidhyahere@gmail)
Vidhya Soundararajan is a Ph.D student at the Department of Applied Economics and Management, Cornell University and a visiting senior research associate at the Institute for Human Development, New Delhi. She holds an M. Sc in Economics from Madras School of Economics (Chennai, India). Her work primarily is on the economics of labor markets and institutions and working and evaluation of social protection programs in India. She earlier worked as a research associate at the International Food Policy Research Institute, New Delhi office and as a short term consultant at the World Bank New Delhi office and in the planning commission of India. Her most recent work studied the effect of minimum wages and enforcement on employment and wages in the construction industry in India.
 Taniya Chakrabarty, Research Associate, IHD (taniya.chakrabarty@ihdindia.org)
Taniya Chakrabarty is a Research Associate with the Institute for Human Development, New Delhi. She has a M.A. in Globalization and Labour from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai and a B.A. in Political Science from Loreto College, University of Calcutta, Kolkata. She has interned with the New Trade Union Initiative, New Delhi. Her areas of interest include labour market, informal labor, employment, social protection and rights of workers.
Janine Rodgers, is a Visiting Senior Fellow at the Institute for Human Development, New Delhi. She is a development economist with post-graduate qualifications from the Universities of Paris, Sussex and Geneva, who has worked with the International Labour Office and the European Association of Development Institutes. She has specialised in research on gender and labour market issues, and has worked in both India and Latin America.

Alexandre de Freitas Barbosa is Professor of Economic History and International//Brazilian Economy at the Institute of Brazilian Studies/University of São Paulo (IEB/USP). He got his PHD in Labor and Social Economics at the Institute of Economics/University of Campinas. He is coordinator of the research group on "Development and International Cooperation" at CEBRAP (Brazilian Center for Analysis and Planning). His areas of research are labor market and inequality in Brazil from a comparative perspective, especially with other countries of the South; development and developmentalism in Brazil; and the role of Brazil in the new global economy and geopolitics.

Maria Cristina Cacciamali is Doctor in Economics from the Economics, Management and Accounting Faculty (FEA) at the University of São Paulo (USP), postgraduate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and University of New Mexico (UNM), and first level CNPq (Brazilian National Council for Scientific and Technological Development) researcher. Her main areas of research are: International Political Economy, International Labour Studies and Public Policies.

Ian Prates, Associate Researcher, Cebrap (ianprca@yahoo.com.br)
Ian Prates is a Ph.D student at the Department of Sociology at the University of São Paulo, and an associate researcher at the Centre for Metropolitan Studies in Cebrap (Brazilian Centre for Analysis and Planning). He holds a M.A in Sociology from the University of São Paulo and has an Undergraduate Degree in Social Sciences from the Federal University of Minas Gerais. His mains areas of research are social stratification, welfare state in developing countries, inequality and poverty.

Tânia Toledo Lima was assistant research in macroeconomics during the undergraduate degree in Economics, Bachelor in Economics from Insper in 2011, Master in Economics from the Federal University of São Carlos - Sorocaba in 2013 and member of the NESPI / USP / CNPq.
