Syed Waseem Ahmad Ashraf, Sabbir Ahmed and Surendra Kaur Rawal |
The Human Development Index (HDI) is a comparative measure of life expectancy, literacy,
education, and standards of living of a country. It is a standard means of measuring wellbeing,
especially child welfare. The present study is an attempt to bring out the intradistrict,
or we can say inter-block, disparities in terms of human development in
Murshidabad district in the state of West Bengal. Due to non-availability of data, here
some modifi ed indicators have been calculated to show the HDI of the district. The result
shows that only three blocks are in the developed category and the rest of the 23 blocks
are included in the moderate and less developed category. |
