Center for Gender Studies
The Centre for Gender Studies aims at facilitating interdisciplinary and comparative study of gender with an emphasis on public policy and interventions. Exploration of the cross-cutting nature of gender issues in specific cultural and regional settings in India and South Asia forms one of its main agendas. By acting as a forum for collaborative research, both within IHD and in association with other institutions, the Centre aims to promote the process of evidence- based policy formulation. It aims to contribute to theoretical, methodological, pedagogical and policy debates surrounding gender and women issues in India.

The COVID-19 pandemic and ensuing social isolation measures have impacted every part of the world, with over 100 countries in lockdown. The protective measure to restrict people to their homes has given rise to unprecedented levels of violence against women. It has further reduced reporting of all forms of violence against women and girls and increased its invisibility. This panel reflected on the impact of the lockdown on violence against women and girls at multiple levels. Watch here
