Dr. Swati Dutta is a Senior Fellow at the Institute for Human Development (IHD) with over a decade of extensive research experience. Her work primarily focuses on areas such as Food and Nutrition Security, Child Health and Nutrition, Maternal Health, Multidimensional Poverty, Financial Inclusion, Women Empowerment, and Child Deprivation. Dr. Dutta has contributed to several high-impact research projects funded by leading organizations including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), GIZ, Volkswagen, International Labour Organization (ILO), UNICEF, International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), International Growth Centre (IGC), Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of Uttarakhand, Planning Department of the Delhi Government, and the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR).
Dr. Dutta is renowned for her expertise in proposal development, quantitative and qualitative research design, sampling frameworks, questionnaire development, and advanced data analysis using statistical and econometric tools like STATA.
Dr. Dutta holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the Institute for Financial Management and Research, University of Madras. She also earned an M.Phil in Applied Economics from the Centre for Development Studies (CDS), Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), and an M.Sc in Economics from Vidyasagar University, where she was a Gold Medalist.
Her research has been published in prestigious journals and books, including Economic and Political Weekly and Springer volumes, covering a range of topics from multidimensional poverty and food security to gender discrimination and child health.
Dr. Dutta has received notable accolades, including the Jhareswar Sing Memorial Endowment Medal and the Prof. MJ Manohar Rao Young Economist Award. She also serves as the Assistant Editor for the Indian Journal of Human Development and is an external reviewer for several prominent journals.
